| The Mokulua Islands, meaning twin Islands, were formed when part of a volcano, making up the Ko'olau mountain chain, collapsed into the sea. The islands are now designated, bird nesting sanctuaries. The Northern most island, Moku Nui, is the larger of the two and can be reached via short kayak trip from Lanikai Beach. It offers a wilderness beach and tide-pools that can be visited, if carefull not to disturb the nesting sea-birds. Towering sea cliffs make the ocean facing side out of reach. |
