The Ko'olau Mountains are generally shrouded in mist, offering a stunning backdrop for the dryer, coastal waters of Kailua Bay. The higher altitudes of the Ko'olau range are capped with rainforests and waterfalls. This is the younger and more lush of the two predominant mountain chaines on Oahu, the older and dryer being the Waianae Range on the West side of Oahu.
