Hoku was born and raised in Kailua, Hawaii. In the 6th grade he took-up kayaking as a hobbie and has been paddling ever since. Hoku also surfs every day, religiously. Look for him at the famous surf-spot Canoes, on a long board wearing a visor, as in the shot above. Hoku has been as far away as Japan for surf-trips and is fluent in Japanese. He studied at the University of Hawaii where he earned a minor in Marine Sciences and majored in Photography. In his extra time, between surfing, he works on photo-shoots, so bring your cameras along and he will find the shots.
